Map of Long Beach Schools With Poor Air Quality

In the past eight years, the South Coast Air Quality Management District has spent $13 million installing classroom air filters in 72 schools. Here are the locations of 69 of those schools.  Why because these schools are in areas with heavy oil and gas refining and drilling operations.

More Schools Using Anti-Bullying Apps Following Rash Of Violence

In the wake of several violent incidents involving students at the New Rochelle High School, district officials have partnered with the creators of an anti-bullying application in an effort to curtail any further instances.

The Board of Education announced at its most recent meeting that it is partnering with Anonymous Alerts, a Westchester County-based company that is “an award-winning anti-bullying and safety reporting mobile app and system for students, community members and staff.”

According to the Board of Education, Anonymous Alerts is a patented anonymous two-way communications system that empowers students to anonymously report bullying and harassment, weapons, drug/alcohol usage and other safety concerns directly to school officials.

Anonymous Alerts® patented student anti-bullying app helps combat bullying and other negative activity in schools by empowering students to come forward to help themselves and other students. Social and peer pressures are some of the hardest obstacles for students to overcome, now they can report bullying and safety issues quickly using Anonymous Alerts® to report it®.
